Teach kids the value of money through a job well done, with Spriggy Jobs

Spriggy Jobs is here

Today, Spriggy releases its latest update, Jobs, and boy, have our members been asking for it. Whether you call them jobs, tasks or chores, earning is an important part of everyone’s money skills.

We Aussie parents are firm believers in giving pocket money on a regular basis. Most of us also believe this pocket money should be earned.

79% of Spriggy parents surveyed believe kids should ‘earn’ their money.

More than half also allow their kids to earn more money by doing extra jobs. The numbers speak for themselves - teach your kids the value of money through a good day’s work.

At Spriggy, we're not here to tell you how to parent. In my house, Mr 6 and Mr 4 (Mr 2 gets away with it for now) do jobs for free. Why? Because we put a roof over their head, clothes on their back and food in their mouths. It's one way, and it works for us - and that's the key, whatever works for you.

With this in mind, we’ve tried to make jobs as flexible as possible.

Spriggy Jobs - what is it?

Jobs are a fun and easy way to teach kids the value of money through hard work, much like the real world.

Spriggy Jobs allows you to build your kids earning skills by completing a set of jobs each week/fortnight or one-offs, much like the world of work we parents live in.

Parents can assign jobs (one-off or recurring with your pocket money schedule) and set the amount to be paid for each job. Jobs are marked as completed (or not) by the kids or parents, approved and added to their pocket money payment on the next ‘pay day’.

How do I set up Spriggy Jobs?

First, please make sure you have the latest app installed. In most cases, this happens automatically, but if not, please go to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store to update.

Job payments come in addition to any regular pocket money payment, so please keep this in mind when setting them up.

Get started with Jobs in 4 steps;

  • Turn on automatic pocket money payments (if you have not already)
  • Create jobs for your kids (keep it simple 5-6)
  • Complete jobs (kids or parents)
  • Approve jobs before the pocket money ‘pay day’
